My first car in UK was a Ser. I Morris 8 Tourer CVM837. It had been modified with a 6" extension on the front of the chassis using Morris Cowley chassis dumb irons, the front springs were lengthened to match. It had telescopic shock absorbers and used to corner very well. It had a bench seat in the front and three of us drove it to the South of France and Italy about 1958. I had more fun with that car then any subsequent car. All the modifications were done by the previous owner who was the son of a garage proprietor.
I moved to Australia in 1961 and bought my current Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (pickup) in 1983 . It was a wreck even though the vendor claimed it had been restored but all he had done was blow it over with a coat of green paint. It was made from a CKD kit with a Ruskin of Melbourne body. There were only about 6 or so made with a proper cab, but the soft top version sold better. We believe mine is the sole survivor on the road.
